Subjectively, people will claim they can't hear the treble. From an objective standpoint the relatively smoother curve of the HD650 arguably has less drastic deviations from 1000hz. I just really wish I could try these out but in the end, I think I'll be happy with the sound of either.

I realize that you can get spare parts for the 712 Pro as well, but they are quite pricy - a single original earpad costs 50€ (roughly $58) whereas a pair of original HD650 pads is 40€ (roughly $46. I also like that there are many spare parts available for the HD650 (earpads, headbands and headband cushions.). I realize this is fairly relative, but still, I feel the HD650 is a safer bet. I've read about problems with the 712 Pro such as the headband losing tension over time, tendency for the headphones to slide down especially on smaller heads, the headband not being comfortable. That said though, I think I'm still going to go with the HD650. There is also a sound demo for the 712 Pro but unfortunately the songs are different, so a direct comparison is a more difficult. Above I mentioned sound demos for the HD600 and HD650. The headphones would be driven using my NuForce UDH-100 amp/dac combo.Īny insight on the two headphones would be greatly appreciatedĪwesome, thank you for the detailed comparison. over-ear design (I don't have a preference for open or closed) decent build quality with spare parts (especially pads) availability neutral sound - I mainly listen to rock and metal, with the occasional electronic music thrown in the mix To provide some more information, here are some things I wish for in my next headphones: I can get the HD650 for 325€ (roughly $380) and the K712 Pro for 225€ (roughly $260), both brand new.Īssuming the HD650 are better (relative, I know), are they worth the extra $120 over the K712 Pro? Unfortunately, I am unable to try either of these out, so I'm hoping I'll get some help here, though I realize these things are somewhat subjective. The dilemma I've found myself in has to do with the price of the headphones. There seems to be quite a few comparisons between the two and form what I have gathered, people generally seem to prefer the HD650, both in terms of sound as well as build quality. I've been eyeing the Sennheiser HD650 for quite some time now and was pretty much set on them until I came across the AKG K712 Pro. Mind dissolves into the object - there is no separation.I'm in the market for some new headphones and have reached a bit of a dilemma. Nature sculpts the world through movement. I would like to be an owl or a fox for one night. Now I am back in England where I paint the trees, plants, rivers, ponds, insects, birds and animals near to wherever I am living and I enjoy listening to classical music, particularly Schubert, while I'm working. I painted them in my garden, sitting and thinking, My studio was open to everyone and once I had a visit from a snake! I studied etching and engraving in a Barcelona studio and since then most of my printmaking is drypoint engraving.

I lived and worked in a beautiful garden studio with my dog and friends came to visit me. I taught art and art history in a convent for a few years and then moved to Spain where I stayed for many years. It was one of the first medieval revival companies in the country. I was a founder member of the Equinox Theatre Company in which I acted, sang danced and made the puppets. I studied History of Art at University in Leicester, UK and afterwards took a teaching certificate in ceramics. My favourite subject-matter was flowers, trees and hedgerows in oils on a large scale and lithography, particularly fantasy and folkloric themes. After school I went to art college in Amersham, UK to study painting and printmaking. I have been a painter-printmaker all my life.
